SA Branch Report
Julie Dundon SA Branch Chair
The SA Branch continues to be highly active, with a number of successful networking events held over the past few months.
An Industry Breakfast was held in March at the Griffins Hotel. The event was very well attended, with approximately 60 members and supporters enjoying a hearty breakfast followed by an insightful presentation on staff recognition and retention delivered by Ruth Blackham from RSL Care SA. Drew Grosser also provided an update on a new online training initiative developed by SA Health.
Although attendance numbers were smaller than anticipated, the informal after-work catchup held in March proved to be a valuable networking opportunity. Attendees appreciated the chance to connect with like-minded professionals and discuss issues affecting their workplaces and businesses in a relaxed setting. Following the positive feedback received, plans are already underway for another event later in the year.
In early May we hosted our Annual Meet & Greet at the Sturt Bowling Club in Unley. A great turnout of members, supporters and guests enjoyed a delicious barbecue dinner and everyone had a fun evening despite the less-than-ideal weather. Unfortunately heavy rain earlier in the week resulted in the greens being closed, meaning bowls could not go ahead. However, thanks to the quick thinking of Kathy and John, a quiz was organised on the spot with eight teams taking part. The “Demon Hunters” emerged as the winners and there have already been calls for a rematch in the near future. Special thanks go to Harvey Smyth and Charlie James for their assistance in making the evening such a success. We would also like to acknowledge PFD Food Services, Barker Boy, Bidfood, ESPSM and BK Packaging for their generous donations and support of both the barbecue and breakfast events.
Planning is now underway for our June Industry Breakfast and the Annual Dinner & Awards Night, which will be held at new venues – the Adelaide Pavilion and Crowne Plaza Adelaide respectively.
Finally I would like to thank the SA Committee and all our members and supporters for their ongoing support throughout the year. It is greatly appreciated.
