QLD/NSW Branch Report

Brendan Host QLD/NSW Branch Chair

Kevin Dunne QLD/NSW Branch Vice Chair

It has been a busy and highly productive few months across QLD and NSW, with a strong focus on connection, collaboration and innovation within the healthcare hospitality sector. We were proud to deliver and support a range of successful events that brought together industry professionals, showcased best practice and celebrated the incredible work of our teams. From recognising our frontline staff to hosting engaging industry forums and knowledge-sharing opportunities, this period has highlighted the strength and commitment of our Hospitality in Healthcare community.

On Wednesday 1 April we held the Texture Modified Menu Solutions Showcase at the RBWH Education Centre. It was a fantastic event, with a strong turnout and high levels of engagement from across the health and aged care sectors. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive.

We extend a sincere thank you to our supporters for delivering insightful presentations, providing exceptional texture-modified food samples and generously sharing their knowledge and expertise. Your contributions were instrumental in the success of the event. We also acknowledge Smooth Dining, Pure Food Co, Texture Concept Foods, Flavour Creations, Nutritious Cuisine and Birch & Waite for their support, including hosting booths on the day.

On Wednesday 22 April, the two of us (Brendan and Kevin) had the opportunity to attend the first Choice Collective event in Brisbane, held at Aveo Clayfield. The session brought together 50 attendees and focused on Aged Care Standard 6. It featured a live Q&A with Choice Collective partners and industry experts who explored real challenges within the sector and shared practical solutions. The event also provided a valuable opportunity for networking and collaboration, supporting improved consistency and outcomes for residents.

On Tuesday 5 May we hosted an Industry Breakfast at Wesley Private Hospital, featuring presentations from leading professionals in healthcare food services. Luke Hoskin and Mahadevan ‘Jegy’ Jegatheesan from Wesley Private Hospital shared insights into the Wesley foodservice model and their journey in implementing the On-Demand Room Service model (you can read more about this here). Kevin also presented on the success of the Celebrity Chef Specials initiative at Mater Hospital and its positive impact on patient experience. The morning concluded with a behind-the-scenes kitchen tour of Wesley Private Hospital, providing attendees with valuable operational insights.

I would also like to remind everyone that the 2026 Hospitality in Healthcare Excellence Awards are still open but will be closing soon. We encourage submissions that showcase the outstanding work being delivered across our industry and recognise the incredible individuals and teams making a difference in healthcare hospitality every day.

In QLD/NSW, we look forward to celebrating these achievements at the QA Hotel on 7 August 2026.

We look forward to seeing our members and supporters continue to partner together, drive innovation and collaborate throughout the year ahead. The strength of Hospitality in Healthcare lies in our shared commitment to improving outcomes across the sector.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our Committee, Platinum and Gold Supporters and all of our Members. Your ongoing commitment, engagement and support are vital to the continued success and growth of Hospitality in Healthcare. Together we will continue to build a strong, connected and innovative community that supports excellence across health and aged care.
