The WA Branch Committee started the year with a planning meeting in January. We have a number of exciting events scheduled for the coming year including a factory tour, chef development day and our WA Branch Excellence Awards. More information will be available as soon as the finer details are confirmed.

The majority of events are exclusive to Members and are typically free, so now is a good time to talk to your colleagues and networks to encourage them to join so they don’t miss out.

Our first event of the year was to celebrate Hospitality Workers in Healthcare Day on 6 March. Approximately 20 members, supporters and other colleagues working in the sector enjoyed a fabulous evening at Spirit of Little Things Gin Distillery in Subiaco. Everyone enjoyed the networking over a grazing table and were able to sample the many gins the distillery has to offer. The venue was fantastic and a great night was had by all.

Our next event is shaping up to be another interesting one. We’re visiting a local food manufacturer for a factory tour, followed by a short presentation and refreshments. This event will be exclusive to members and numbers will be limited, so I’d recommend you sign up as soon as the flyer hits your email.

Lastly a reminder that the Excellence Awards nominations are open. Last year WA had great success at the National Awards but to get to the National stage you need to nominate and win at the State level. You’ll be reading about the Awards elsewhere in the magazine but I’d really encourage anyone to put in a nomination. You don’t have to be a member to nominate or be nominated, so let’s celebrate the people, teams and projects that stand out from the crowd, and make the difference in Hospitality in Healthcare.
