PrePlated: Textured Concept Foods brings texture modified meals straight to the door
Textured Concept Foods (TCF) is taking its biggest step yet beyond the hospital tray, launching PrePlated, a new range of pre-portioned, ready to heat texture modified meals delivered directly to your door.
Until now, TCF’s meals have been served almost exclusively within institutional settings: aged care, hospitals and disability providers. PrePlated changes that, putting the same dietitian-designed, IDDSI-aligned meals TCF is known for into the hands of professional carers, individuals and families managing mealtimes at home.
Dr Lisa Sossen APD PhD, TCF’s Managing Director and inhouse dietitian
“We built our reputation inside the system, but so much of the need lives outside it,” says Dr Lisa Sossen APD PhD, TCF’s Managing Director and inhouse dietitian. “Families caring for someone with swallowing difficulties often don’t know where to turn once they leave a hospital or care setting. PrePlated means they don’t have to compromise on nutrition, safety or dignity just because they’re at home.”
Available in IDDSI Level 4 (Puréed) and Level 5 (Minced & Moist), PrePlated launches September 1 with a full menu of familiar meal options, from roasts to sausages, alongside a range of desserts. Each meal is portioned and nutritionally balanced by TCF’s inhouse dietitians.
That nutritional balance is doing double duty, Lisa says. “These PrePlated meals are carefully balanced with a good source of protein in every serve. Through my research, I’ve found that our portion sizes are ideal for people with smaller appetites, providing the nutrition they need without overwhelming them. Served on our signature plate, the meals help normalise the eating experience and make mealtimes feel familiar and enjoyable. This takes the guesswork out of mealtimes and gives carers, family members and support workers greater peace of mind.”
While dysphagia remains central to TCF’s work, Lisa is quick to point out the range’s growing relevance beyond it. “We’re seeing real uptake from families managing food avoidance, sensory sensitivities linked to neurodivergence, and post-bariatric, gastric sleeve diets or throat surgeries,” she says. “Anyone who needs food that’s easy to chew and swallow, without sacrificing flavour or nutrition, is who we built this for.”
PrePlated is also designed to be accessible. Eligible NDIS and Support at Home participants may be able to claim up to 70 per cent of the cost through government funding, when ordered through TCF’s preferred supplier.
For a company built on improving institutional food, PrePlated marks a shift toward something more personal: meals that meet people wherever mealtimes are difficult.
